Plzeňská filharmonie

Bohuslav and Vita

This work is a tribute to two personalities of 20th century Czech music - Vítězslava Kapralová and Bohuslav Martinů. The audience will have the opportunity to hear their song and piano works both well-known and rarely performed, accompanied by staged readings of correspondence. The evening’s prologue is a song duet by the composer Terezie Švarcová, written on commission for this project. A performance full of strong emotions presents the compelling story of one musical friendship, human intimacy and inspirational love that took place against the backdrop of Europe´s turbulent history at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s.
